Support Environmental Advocacy at UNEA-6: Help Send Our Vice Chair to Nairobi!
I am reaching out to you as the Vice Chair of our organization, a non-profit environmental charity dedicated to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). I am excited to share a unique opportunity with you and seek your support for a cause that goes beyond our local efforts.
Walking in the footsteps of Richard St. Barbe Baker who founded the Men of the Trees (the International Tree Foundation) in Kenya, Africa. The Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas honour the effort of this global environmental champion at UNEA 6, the United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi.
📅 Event Details: I have been invited to attend the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6) in Nairobi, Kenya, scheduled from February 26, 2024, to March 1, 2024. This global assembly brings together leaders and experts to discuss crucial planetary issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution.
🌐 Fundraiser Objective: This fundraiser aims to cover the airfare from Saskatoon to Nairobi and accommodation expenses during the event. With February 26 just around the corner, your timely contributions will make a significant impact on advancing this important cause.
🌱 Why Your Support Matters: The purpose of my attendance at UNEA-6 is to actively participate in discussions addressing the critical planetary crises we face. The assembly focuses on fostering effective, inclusive, and sustainable multilateral actions to tackle challenges related to climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution.
🌎 Our Impact and Alignment with SDGs: As an environmental professional deeply committed to sustainable development goals, I currently serve as a voluntary board member and Vice Chairman of Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas. Our organization actively contributes to SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). We protect 474 acres of greenspace, woodlands, and grasslands, aligning our efforts with global environmental priorities.
🌿 Conservation Challenges and Urgency: The interconnected issues we face, such as the decline of native grasslands and the alarming mass extinction of insects and wildlife populations, emphasize the urgency of our collective conservation efforts.
💸 Sponsorship Needed: I am currently pursuing a Master of Sustainability (Regenerative Sustainability) at the University of Saskatchewan and I am seeking sponsorship to cover the airline fare from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada to Nairobi, Kenya, amounting to $3,000 and additionally the hotel fare. Your contribution will play a pivotal role in facilitating my attendance at UNEA-6 and contributing to vital discussions on planetary action and sustainability.
🌟 Your Support Matters: Please consider the significance of this event in addressing global environmental challenges and the potential impact your support can have. Your financial assistance will be acknowledged, and on behalf of the Friends of the Saskatoon Afforestation Areas we are open to discussing recognition opportunities or other ways to showcase your commitment to environmental stewardship.
🌈 Charity Tax Deductions: Did you know? You can receive as much as 53% back through charity tax deductions.
🙏 Join Us in Making a Difference: Your support will not only benefit my personal and professional growth but will also showcase the efforts of our grassroots organization, contributing to broader goals of environmental sustainability and planetary well-being.
