The Friends of the Ukrainian Village Society are fund raising to relocate a 1920s barn to the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village. The Ukrainian-Canadian farmstead needs a barn and granary to be completed. We need $50,000 to accomplish our goal. A barn has been selected - it is an example of the blend of the new with the old. It's structure is related to 1920s blueprints found in the Alberta Lumber Company office at the Village. The building’s south-facing entrance and slit windows harken back to earlier times, when people relied exclusively on natural lighting when using it. It is a good progression of features and historical process from the other farmsteads on site. It is also in real danger of being demolished. Our fund raising project is time sensitive - help us relocate this unique barn to the Ukrainian Village. Preserve early Albertan and Ukrainian history for future generations.
