Gabriola Players is a community theatre group whose mission is to provide opportunities for members of the community to participate in live theatre productions that enrich, educate and entertain. 

Since our initial performance in 2004, Gabriola Players has performed well over than 50 plays, including more than eight pantomimes in the English tradition of holiday extravaganzas. Our season also includes an annual one-act play festival where we encourage and often present plays by local playwrights. To encourage those who may not trust themselves to memorize lines, Gabriola Players also presents Staged Readings (plays done by actors with their scripts in hand), including an annual Bard in the Garden workshop to promote love of Shakespeare. And in order to remain vital during the pandemic years, we have written and presented several online streaming productions.

While actors are often the most visible part of our theatre productions, our shows could not happen without the excellent support of a large backstage team including director, producer, stage manager, playwrights, costumers, set designer, light and sound technicians, among many others. Our largest productions often involve several dozen members.

To further encourage participation by members of the community, we also sponsor training workshops by professionals on acting, directing, improv, playwrighting as well as on technical skills such as stage management and lighting.

In January 2013, Gabriola Players further sought designation under the Canada Revenue Act as a Registered Charity. This registration was granted on April 13, 2013, with the registration number 83520 3753 RR0001.
