The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) works together for responsible stewardship of the ecosystem. Our goal is to protect and enhance our watersheds ecosystem, and to further the conservation, restoration, development and management of renewable natural resources. We believe in promoting stewardship through cooperative programs designed to conserve the land and water for future; to ensure that Ontario's rivers, lakes and streams are properly safeguarded, managed and restored; to protect, manage, and restore Ontario's woodlands, wetlands and natural habitat; to develop and maintain programs that will protect life and property from natural hazards such as flooding and erosion; and to provide opportunities for the public to enjoy, learn from and respect Ontario's natural environment.
The Ganaraska Forest Centre (GFC) is an outdoor education facility, located in the Ganaraska Forest on the Oak Ridges Moraine, that provides children with an opportunity to learn about the importance of an appreciation and respect of our natural world through hands-on environmental activities and programs. These experiences have taught children, for over 20 years, that our local and global habitats need protection, rehabilitation and understanding so that they can be appreciated by future generations.
