Georgian Bay Food Network currently serves over 1,500 food-insecure households on a monthly basis. The Food Network is designed to reduce stigma associated with food insecurity as well as assist individuals/families on the path to self sufficiency. GFBN primarily functions as a "grocery store" style food bank, serving the catchment area of Midland, Penetanguishene, Tiny, Tay and Christian Island. We provide a variety of fresh food items, such as dairy products, meats, produce, etc. to food insecure individual/families. Families and individuals have the ability to choose from a variety of healthy food options, to best suit their dietary needs. The "grocery store" layout is intended to promote autonomy by giving choice back to the individual. Families and individuals are given a certain amount of points, in which they are able to "shop" with! We strive to continue to uphold our stigma-free environment, and serve those in need.
