About GEORGINA COMMUNITY FOOD PANTRY
The Georgina Community Food Pantry (GCFP) vision is an inclusive and food secured community, by providing good food to the residents of Georgina. Currently we distribute a four day supply of good food each month to upwards of 650 households and 1,750 people. Children account for about 20% of those served, and we also aim that all food distributed includes fresh healthy food. With this in mind, the GCFP is presently striving to increase the fresh food portion to 40% of all our food distributed. Each week the GCFP purchases milk, eggs, and meat as well as fresh fruits and vegetables to enhance the nutritional value of the food distributed.
While the GCFP continues to deliver this essential emergency food service, we have expanded our role. The GCFP gives our pantry clients the opportunity to grow their own food and broaden their knowledge of nutritious meal planning by providing them with the opportunity to participate in our community garden and community kitchen programs.
The GCFP appreciates the support from members of our Georgina community. Your monetary and food donations make it possible for us to continue our much needed services and assist those in need.
