Our Mission

Giant Steps Toronto/York Region is a therapy centre for elementary school-aged children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Through personalized, evidence-based therapies and programs, Giant Steps builds the skills and abilities of children with autism and enables their enhanced participation in family, school and community life.

About GIANT STEPS TORONTO/YORK REGION

At Giant Steps, we are passionate about improving the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families. We believe that a comprehensive, data-driven approach of evidence-based therapies and life skill programming best meets the complex learning needs of children with ASD.

Children participate in individualized therapy and skill development programs based on detailed therapy plans and frequent clinical reviews. Through a wide array of best practices, our therapists deliver 3 core therapy programs – speech, behaviour and occupational therapies, and address play/social and daily living skill development in each child’s programming. Children participate in a robust daily curriculum where, on a 2:1 staff to child ratio, our therapy assistants work directly with children, applying and practising therapeutic and skill development strategies throughout the day. 

Speech, behaviour and/or OT services are also available to families as individual therapies.  

Families are important partners in all aspects of their child's program, working with our team to establish and modify therapy plans and foster the generalization of therapeutic strategies to all settings. 

Giant Steps' therapy programs are 100% funded by our donors, our fundraising events and activities, and by families.
