Located in the heart of Gibsons BC, the Heritage Playhouse is a fully equipped theatre built by the community for the community. This 146-seat venue with light, sound, and projection systems is known for its versatility and superb acoustics.

The Heritage Playhouse is managed by Gibsons Landing Heritage Society. The GLHS was formed in 1987. It has been responsible for the restoration of the Heritage Playhouse with help from the community of the Sunshine Coast, and funding from the provincial, federal and local governments. The GLHS is a registered nonprofit society with charitable status.

The Heritage Playhouse opened its doors as a theatre in April 2000. The building began its life in 1929 as the Women’s Institute Hall and is now a Designated Heritage Building. The GLHS constantly work to upgrade its capabilities while keeping it affordable. 

The Playhouse relies on rentals, membership, grants, sponsorship, donations and individual volunteer involvement.

The Playhouse is home to a wide range of professional and amateur events from near and far throughout the year. It is a fully equipped theatre and  audiences enjoy a wide range of events.
