GPAG is a non-profit gallery existing to provide a publicly accessible community space to share, discuss, teach, create and promote art.
We are a non-profit contemporary public art gallery located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), neighbouring the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the shíshálh (Sechelt Nation).
Originally founded in 2003 by a group of dedicated volunteers, GPAG is located in the heart of Gibsons Landing on the Sunshine Coast, BC. In 2012 we were able to move into our current accessible space, thanks to the generous bequest of long time volunteer Eve Smart. We offer a professional-level exhibition space for artists, regular free events, a space for local artists to sell their work, and affordable art classes for kids and adults alike. We do not charge admission in order to keep art accessible to all. Each year, we receive an average of 16,000 - 18,000 visitors, making us an important tourist destination on the Sunshine Coast.
All artists, whether emerging or established, and working in any medium or style, are invited to exhibit their artwork here at GPAG. We generally host over 25 exhibitions every year chosen by jury through our annual open submissions call; as well as recurring annual exhibitions such as our SHOUT OUT! Youth Art exhibition, Black History Month Exhibition, an Indigenous Invitational Exhibition, and a Members of GPAG Exhibition.
We do not currently receive any operational funding; we are supported by our community and our members, by our volunteers, by sales of artwork in our Gift Shop, project grants, and by donations both big and small.
Your support makes a difference. A strong community and a dedicated year-round space for art supports local artists, boosts our economy, and adds value to our community.
