Democratic Republic of the Congo - The homes, schools, churches and health centres of 160 Banyamulenge villages have been burned, forcing families to flee for safety in the highlands of East Congo. Many have been subjected to extreme violence with deaths reaching into the hundreds. Today around 85,000 are displaced in the region with many gathering for safety in numbers in the region of Minembwe. They lack food, shelter and protection from the threats of violence and death.
