Gordon-King Memorial United Church known locally as 'The Big Red Church' is a vibrant faith community in the neighbourhood of Glenelm located in the city of Winnipeg.
The church and surrounding community share the space of the church in a wide variety of ways.
GeNA (the Glenelm Neighbourhood Association) not only has their monthly meetings in the church but hosts many of their events in the church building. Narcotics Anonymous and Cocaine Anonymous meet weekly in the church building. Sparks and Brownies also use the church each week.
The church is a historical building with an incredible story of both how the church was built and the faith community that it housed at inception - over 700 people. The church doesn't want to be known just for its history but for the way it contributes to the stories of the people who make up its faith community and those who enter for other events.
