Our organization was started over 5 years ago during the height of the COVID pandemic.  Once a week, we distribute donated food and prepared meals to individuals who are facing food insecurities.  Gore Park Community Outreach started on Feb 13, 2021 with 6 volunteers on a winter stormy day and we served 35 guests around Gore Park which is located in downtown Hamilton, Ontario.  We started with peanut butter and jam sandwiches and a big pot of chicken noodle soup.

We are a collaborative and inclusive outreach organization that is 100% volunteer based. We are also a teaching outreach that encourages the next generation of volunteers, particularly the students to help others in need of a little help and support. 

Currently, we are now serving around 1000 weekly with about 150 volunteers consisting of 75 serving at the front line and another 75 helping us prepare the meals and supplies; 80% of the people we serve are seniors, people with disabilities and families with children, refugees, post-secondary students, and the other 20% are people living in shelters or experiencing homelessness.  Every Saturday --  52 weeks of the year  --   under all weather conditions  --  we serve and distribute hot meals, fruits, vegetables, dairy products, beverages, baked goods, eggs, cereal, crackers, canned goods, rice, pasta, coffee, tea, snacks, bread and much more.  ALL these food donations come from local grocers and distributors. 

What began as a commitment of just a few weeks has evolved into an enduring journey of continuous assistance spanning over 5 years, benefiting numerous individuals in our community who are in need.
