GAP’s mission is to facilitate low barrier youth-led community programming in the North End and Downtown Winnipeg that promotes social engagement through the arts. Since 1998 GAP has been channeling youths’ passion for hip-hop into meaningful opportunities for artistic and personal growth while learning new skills and making community connections. We envision a world where all youth have equitable opportunities to participate in determining their future and the future of their communities. 

GAP makes the arts accessible to the public through:

Mentorship of Artists: GAP is dedicated to fostering young artists’ talents through free community classes and workshops, pairing young artists with established local artists through mentorship programs, and providing a space where young artists can take creative risks.

Presentation of Art: GAP runs Graffiti Gallery, an exhibition space that is committed to showcasing young, emerging artists and those working outside institutional expectations. This unique gallery is easily adapted to accommodate a wide variety of events, exhibitions and workshops hosted by local and visiting artists.

Artistic Hub: GAP is committed to serving as a place for open dialogue between artists, patrons, and the broader community. Our goal is to develop community engagement with the arts and to facilitate a dialogue about the role of the arts beyond the gallery walls. GAP is also devoted to creating an open and collaborative environment for artists to network and build a community of peers from varying artistic disciplines, fostering a sense of creative cooperation.
