About GRAND BANK HERITAGE SOCIETY INC.
The Grand Bank Heritage Society is a non-profit organization consisting of a group of community-minded citizens whose mandate is to preserve, present and publish the rich history of Grand Bank in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Society is supported by a full-time Business Manager who oversees the day-to-day operations of the organization.
The Society operates the George C. Harris House - Museum of Local History on a seasonal basis. It is also involved with a tremendous undertaking - the first of its kind in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Society is raising funds to erect a statue and memorial garden to honour mariners who were lost at sea. The memorial will also honour thousands of Newfoundland women who endured the loss of these men. The project is approximately 75% complete, the unveiling ceremony will be held in Grand Bank on August 8, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
