Kukum's house was established in July of 2015 as a drug and alcohol treatment center for men. In the time that it was operating Kukum's hosted nearly 500 clients up until its arson in 2020. In cree 'Kukum' means grandmother, and with the grandmothers teachings we are moving forward with treating people to help build a healthier community. We have a thrift shop and operate bingos at minimal capacity in order to raise funds to pay for the new building and operational costs of the Cold Lake Native friendship Center. In light of the current pandemic and uncovering of the bodies at residential schools, demand for our services has increased greatly and has forced us to look outside our community for assistance.
