The Galt Historic Railway Park collects, preserves, restores, exhibits and interprets artifacts that represent the history and social impact of the “steam” and “coal” eras in southern Alberta, with emphasis on the Galt Railway System (1885 – 1912) and the 1890 International Train Station from Coutts, Northwest Territories / Sweetgrass, Montana.
The Great Canadian Plains Railway Society oversees the Railway Park.
Funding comes from membership fees, museum admissions, grants, and casinos. The Society is a registered charity with CRA and the Province of Alberta.
Donations of cash, artifacts, photographs, and printed materials are welcome and will be recognized by a tax receipt.
