Greenwood Neighbourhood Place Society

about

Greenwood Neighbourhood Place (GNP) is a non-profit community resource centre that has been supporting Sundre and the surrounding rural area for more than 20 years. We provide confidential, personalized information and referrals related to mental health, housing, income supports, navigating government agencies, transportation, learning opportunities, and other local services. When people aren’t sure where to begin, we’re often the first place they reach out to.

Our Vision

Together, we will build a connected, resilient, and thriving community — a place to belong.

Our Mission

To provide support, resources, and programs that enhance the quality of life in our community.

Our Story

GNP was created in 2000 by a group of local residents who saw the need for a central place to strengthen families, uplift children, and honour seniors. What began as a small hub for information and referrals has steadily grown with the evolving needs of the region. Today, GNP offers a broad range of services, volunteer opportunities, and community programs that help people connect, access support, and feel part of something meaningful.

What We Do

Our work includes:

  • Information & Referrals – helping people navigate systems that can feel overwhelming.

  • Advocacy & Support – walking alongside individuals as they explore options or complete applications.

  • Programs & Events – offering low-cost or free activities for children, youth, families, adults, and seniors.

  • Volunteer Connections – linking residents with meaningful opportunities to contribute to community life.

  • Community Calendar (Sundre on the Go) – sharing local programs, events, and services each month.

In 2024, GNP responded to 3,451 requests for services, delivered 285 programs and events, and coordinated 2,826 volunteer hours — all contributing to a more connected and caring community.

How We Are Funded

As a registered charitable organization, GNP is supported through government contracts and grants, foundations, and individual and corporate donors who value the importance of accessible, local supports. This combined generosity helps us offer many programs at a subsidized cost — and some at no cost — so everyone can participate.

Your Donation Helps

Your contribution helps keep programs low-cost or free, supports people who are trying to navigate complex systems, and creates more opportunities for children, adults, and seniors to connect, participate, and feel like they belong here.

If you’re able, we invite you to join others who are investing in a stronger, more welcoming Sundre. Your support makes a real difference for neighbours of all ages.
