We have a bold dream. We believe in the power of collective community action. We know individually many don’t have a lot extra to share. What if we can accumulate 100’s, even 1000’s, of smaller monthly donations? Together, we can create long-term funding stability for 1000’s in the downtown east to access food, resources, programs, and support. 

Here’s the hard truth: Food costs and people in need of food support are currently at an all-time high. Building Roots believes that access to fresh food should be a basic human right. We currently supply the community with over 400 bags of fresh food per week at our Moss Park Market. This is up more than 300% since 2021. We also provide hot and cold beverages, sweet treats, as well as a monthly meal, through our Coffee & Conversations program which runs during market hours.

We hope to reach the goal of adding 500 new monthly donors by June 21, the last day of Spring. To kick things off, our Executive Director Caroline Clair has doubled the challenge and signed up as a $20-a-month donor.
