Growing Together provides quality childcare and support to Young Moms and Dads who are going to school to finish their basic education.
How Growing Together Young Parent Program Works
Growing Together operates next to the Cowichan Valley Open Learning Coop and serves young mothers and fathers who are enrolled there, at Adult Ed or other schools in SD79. The program has four age-designated playrooms that are equipped with age-appropriate toys. A hot breakfast and lunch program are provided; though parents are asked to provide formula for each day. The program is facilitated by caring, knowledgeable staff members who are licensed in Early Childhood Education, First Aid and Food Safe. An outreach worker offers support and advocacy to families attending the program.
A Public Health Nurse from Ts’ewulhtun Health and the Margaret Moss Clinic also visits once per week to answers to any health-related questions about motherhood and babies.
Growing Together has been operating in the same location for over 20 years. our committment to quality childcare and family relations are stated in our Goal: "To provide equal educational opportunites for young people who are blending parenting with completing their studies"
