About HABITAT FOR HUMANITY NIAGARA
Habitat for Humanity is an independent, non-profit home builder dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing. Our philosophy is “A Hand Up, Not A Hand Out”, and our mission is to provide affordable housing for low-income families in the Niagara Region.
Habitat for Humanity Niagara, incorporated in 1993, achieves this through the construction or renovation of simple, decent, affordable homes. We improve the quality of life in our community by working to eliminate poverty housing. We seek partnership opportunities to work side-by-side with financially vulnerable families.
Habitat houses are sold to families, not given to them free of charge. In addition, families help to build their own home.
By building homes at low cost and not charging interest on the mortgage, Habitat for Humanity is able to provide an opportunity, or a "hand up", to buy a home for families that would not otherwise qualify for a conventional mortgage.
