about

Our Mission

Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North (HFHOGN) is a not-for-profit organization working to break the cycle of poverty by promoting affordable and accessible housing and home ownership for all. We bring communities across Muskoka, North Bay, North Simcoe, Orillia Lake Country, Parry Sound and Sudbury together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership.

We work with people from all walks of life as we build simple, decent and affordable homes through volunteer work, efficient management and the generous donations of money and materials. Homes are sold to partner families at no profit – they are financed with affordable, no interest mortgages, geared to the families’ financial circumstance.

We envision a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live.

How Can You Help?

Your donation helps families in need purchase an accessible and affordable house, and make it a home. Homeownership is about more than just building equity. A home instills a family with a renewed sense of confidence and pride. Children become happier and more outgoing, leading to improved grades and better health. Parents use their newly discovered sense of accomplishment to return to school, learn a new trade, or upgrade their job skills. The impact is immediate; the effects everlasting.

Whether you choose to make a donation of cash, goods, time, or energy, your support helps families achieve the dream of homeownership. By supporting Habitat for Humanity Ontario Gateway North you are not just providing for the bricks and mortar to build a house, you’re giving families the hand up they need to build a better life.

About Our Organization

We build simple, decent homes using donations of financial support, building materials and volunteer time through local communities. After investing 500 "sweat equity" hours to build their homes and those of their neighbours, our families assume no-interest mortgage of which payments are never more than 25 percent of their income.
