To mobilize volunteers and community partners in the building of safe, decent and affordable housing while promoting homeownership as a way to improve the lives of families.
Established in 2002, Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region is a non-profit housing organization. Through volunteer labour and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds houses in partnership with homeowner families.
We offer low income families a hand-up, not a hand-out, giving them the ability build strength, stability and self-reliance through homeownership.
Habitat does not give away free homes — the families who partner with us pay an interest-free mortgage geared to their income and volunteer 500 volunteer hours with our organization.
As Habitat homeowners pay off their mortgage, the funds are invested into a revolving fund, which is used to build more homes for low income families in the community.
Homeownership provides a solid foundation for families to build brighter, more prosperous futures. Better, affordable living conditions lead to improved health, stronger childhood development and the ability to achieve financial stability.
By supporting Habitat, you are providing so much more than the bricks and mortar to build a home, you’re giving families in our community the opportunity to build a better life.
You can take pride in knowing that your donation to Habitat goes directly into homebuilding efforts, funding the construction of more safe, decent and affordable housing. All administrative costs are paid for by the revenue generated at our ReStore.
Thank you for your support and generosity!
