Habitat for Humanity Sarnia/Lambton is a not-for-profit, international, organization that builds simple, decent homes and sells them to low-income, working families seeking safe and affordable housing.  Through our $0-down, 0%-interest 20-year mortgages and geared-to-income monthly payments, we offer our partner families a hand up, not a hand-out.

Habitat for Humanity provides a solution to affordable housing.  We know that homeownership enables and empowers families.  Over time, a family’s equity in their home increases.  Habitat partner families also see an improvement in their overall financial situation, since their interest-free mortgage is amortized to ensure that their payments are no more than 30% of their gross monthly income. 

We don’t give homes away!  Families in need of decent and affordable housing are chosen through a rigorous selection process.  They must then contribute 500 hours of volunteer service to Habitat locally and complete a comprehensive, 6-module Homeowner Education Program.  Once built, our Habitat homes are sold to these deserving families.  With geared-to-income monthly mortgage payments, our families can then begin to build equity in their homes and financial security for their future.
