Habitat for Humanity is an independent, non-profit, ecumenical housing program dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing by building homes in partnership with families in need. The mandate of Habitat is to provide simple, decent, affordable housing to those who would not qualify or be able to afford a conventional mortgage. The Habitat program is about home ownership, a long-term solution designed to break the poverty cycle.
About HABITAT FOR HUMANITY YUKON SOCIETY
In a relatively short span of time, the Yukon chapter of Habitat for Humanity progressed from a noble concept to a practical plan of action.
What we are committed to do together is not just about houses, it is about hope. It is about community values and community leadership. It is about setting a higher standard for affordable housing. Most of all, it is about Yukoners helping Yukoners in a constructive, supportive environment.
If you would like to make a difference in our community, I encourage you to remember the words of the great blues artists, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, and "Get on Board"!
