Halifax Dance is a registered charity that has been bringing the joy of movement to students, families and audiences for 50 years. We focus on education, inclusion and performance.

50 Years of Excellence

Halifax Dance has been a centre of excellence for dancing training for over 50 years. We are an originator, an innovator and an incubator for creativity. 

From the youngest creative movement students, to recreational youth and adults, to pre-professional and professional dancers, Halifax Dance ensures high-quality training that encourages dedication, collaboration, hard work and passion. Dance training instills important values in a student's life, regardless of age, experience or discipline. Our students gain confidence, transferable life skills, creative and artistic awareness.

Our students have gone on to national and international post-secondary professional training programs and professional careers in the arts. Our alumni have enjoyed successful careers with some of the most notable dance companies in Canada and abroad. We are a cultural hub for the development of the dance community in Halifax, creating performance opportunities, jobs and opportunities for dancers and dance lovers alike.  

We nurture the intersection of audiences and proudly present our students in various performance opportunities throughout the year, including our annual production of The Nutcracker with Symphony Nova Scotia and Mermaid Theatre, our Spring Season performances by The Young Company and The Youth Dance Ensemble, our Intensive Training Program Holiday Show, the annual Children's Showcase Recital, among others. We maintain close and meaningful relationships with other arts organizations in our community, including housing several professional companies-in-residence throughout the year. 

At Halifax Dance, we prioritize excellence, inclusivity and sustainability above all else. Our legacy continues with each new generation of students who choose to pursue their love of dance within our studios.
