We are a community-based settlement agency that provides a variety of programs and services to immigrant and refugee communities. Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to enabling every individual, regardless of race or ethnic origin, to participate as full and active members of the community through fostering mutual respect and understanding of one another.
HMC offers settlement counselling, employment supports, language learning, volunteering, mentoring, community information sessions, and transitional housing.
Donations to HMC are used for start up programs that work to connect people to the community. One of our current community projects is to begin a community kitchen - it will serve to help launch newcomer entrepreneurs who are intereted in food businesses and as a community meeting place to learn about healthy eating and cooking. Other projects support elders in isolation, language circles, mom's groups and youth activities.
