Fundraising is an essential part of health care. The government only funds hospital salaries, operating costs and contributes to capital projects. We count on donors to help purchase crucial – and often life-saving – equipment.
Last year, donor support helped purchase vital medical equipment, including:
• Ventilators for use in the Intensive Care Unit at Hamilton General Hospital.
• Intensive Care Unit beds, cardiac monitors, defibrillators, stretchers and glidescopes to help with the COVID-19 response.
• New technology that allows clinicians to provide virtual care, as well as technology that enables health care teams to monitor patients virtually, which connects people from across the region and reduces feelings of isolation during such uncertain times.
