Our Mission
Hands Across The Sea believes that children are the key to Haiti's future. Our goal as an organization is to raise up and educate children to be the future leaders of the country.
We are a Registered Charitable Organization working with needy children and families in Deschapelles, Haiti. We operate a children's home, a school from preschool to grade 12 with over 500 children, and an outreach ministry to families in the surrounding communities.
As an Interdenominational Christian Ministry, we employ local staff, thus encouraging economic development in the community.
About Hands Across the Sea Association
Canadian Karen R. Huxter founded Hands Across the Sea in 2000. Along with the Assistant Director, Luckner Estimable, Karen R. Huxter oversees a children's home that provides full-time care to 18 children in a family-type setting, a school that provides quality education to over 500 children, ongoing community outreach and giving programs geared towards the neediest families.
Our Sponsorship Program allows individuals and families in Canada to build personal relationships with the children they are sponsoring. It gives children in our school the opportunity to receive an excellent education as well as nutritional support.
Visiting groups can participate in building projects, community outreach and children's ministry work.
