"It's about hope, and the need for more of it."

Hashtag Hope began as an internet outreach project on Twitter back in 2012. The heart was to reach out, in real time, to those who were thinking about suicide via twitter. Since then, Hashtag Hope has grown in to a hope awareness brand and outreach project. In 2016, founder of Hashtag Hope Nick Pegg quit his job working in a kitchen and set out on the road in pursuit of those who wish to die. He set out with very little money and a lot of heart to share the hope he had found through perseverance and faith. Coast to coast and hundreds of events in the name of suicide prevention and hope.

2019 saw the addition of Mark Stromenberg, a youth worker, mental health advocate, and suicide intervention instructor. With such a need for hope, the project needed to grow. Since then, we incorporated as a not-for-profit, developed a Board of Directors, and applied for and received our status as a recognized charity. We have big dreams for a future of hope.

We exist to speak truth and life into darkness & death, primarily to young Canadians. We do this through outreach & advocacy, resourcing, training, and practical support.
