If you, or someone you love, has brought a child into the world, you know it’s one of the most beautiful, yet stressful, experiences.
South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia is the only birthing hospital between Halifax and Yarmouth. On average, 300-350 babies are born at our hospital each year, many to your friends, family and neighbours.
Our team is hoping you will support our efforts to purchase a portable ultrasound for the Women’s and Children’s Unit at South Shore Regional Hospital. A portable ultrasound is the ultimate gift of reassurance you can give moms-to-be and their delivery team!
A portable ultrasound in the Women’s and Children’s Unit allows the medical team to identify and/or double check for any issues mom or baby may face in the delivery process. It allows us to check fluid levels around the baby and its heart rate. The machine also can tell us what position baby is planning to make its entrance in, allowing clinicians to make critical diagnoses at the bedside and take quick action.
And for those choosing an epidural – this ultrasound is very important for your care!
This Giving Tuesday, please join the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore in “giving reassurance” and donating to make this important portable ultrasound possible for our regional hospital.
P.S.: If any excess funds are raised in support of the portable ultrasound, the funds will stay in support of the Women’s & Children’s Unit fund.
