The Compassion Fund’s directive is to support patients in health equity, providing such resources as blood pressure cuffs for home readings, fresh food boxes, assisting with medical supplies not covered by OHIP, proving transportation to medical appointments, among other needs.  This funding can be accessed by clinicians to directly support their patients and address barriers to care that the patient may be encountering.  This funding can be transformative for a patient’s health outcome, providing equipment they may not be able to get otherwise, fresh food, or even just a ride to a very important medical appointment.  It allows the clinicians of the Peterborough Family Health Team to do more to support their patients.
