An award-winning charity that has championed the care and protection of heritage buildings and historic neighbourhoods for over 50 years.
The conservation of Ottawa's heritage places that matter. Heritage buildings, historic neighbourhoods and cultural landscapes invite discovery through their character of construction, welcoming tree-lined streets, and curved pathways in historic parks and green spaces. As the City turns its attention to greater "intensification" we are working to ensure that the resulting changes won't be detrimental to important historic streetscapes and neighbourhoods.
By supporting Heritage Ottawa, you'll be helping to protect the places that matter to our communities. And you'll be supporting a future where investment in heritage places is seen as the environmentally sustainable development option. By repurposing old buildings they remain relevant, not trampled and sent to landfill in the rush to demolish old in order to build new. These are the commitments that have driven our organization for over 50 years.
Together with our members and supporters we have worked energetically to ensure that accumulated heritage -- which is what gives our city character -- is protected and integrated into city planning.
Ottawa's heritage belongs to all of us. Help us ensure it continues to enrich future generations.
