We operate without a physical shop or facility, which means we lack a designated space to care for animals and assess their behavior and health prior to their intake. Consequently, when we receive an animal, we do so without any prior knowledge about its background. Our primary focus is on assisting feral and stray cats, many of whom arrive in poor health and require significant medical attention. Additionally, we address situations involving hoarding, where cats and kittens are often found in deplorable living conditions. We also provide support to farms experiencing an overpopulation of cats, as well as small communities like Peers, where similar issues arise. Cats living in such environments often lack sufficient access to food, clean water, and safe sleeping areas, which compromises their immune systems. As a result, these animals frequently suffer from various health issues, including intestinal parasites, viral infections such as calcivirus, herpes, and coronavirus (which can mutate into FIP), as well as bacterial infections, ear mites, and lice. To ensure they receive the necessary treatment, we must conduct diagnostic testing and provide medications, necessitating ongoing fundraising efforts. We understand that it may get tiring to see us soliciting for funds on our Facebook page, but this is essential for our mission. Our work is carried out by dedicated volunteers, and we do not receive financial support from government entities or large corporate sponsors. Currently, we are the only rescue organization in Yellowhead County that actively visits properties to assist these animals, all while operating on limited resources and in our spare time. The conditions we encounter can be quite distressing, and we choose not to share much of what we witness on our social media platforms. Much of the work we do is silent and behind the scenes. We know many people do not want to see the horrible things we see. We can not continue to do it without help.
