The HOME Society has a 20 year history of supporting men and women who have had very challenging lives. Most live with a dual diagnosis which involves Developmental Disabilities, Mental health issues and/or addictions issues.
Many have repeated brushes with mental health centers, the law and the streets. We provide warm caring homes, some in group settings and many with caring families. HOMES uses a philosophy of Gentle Teaching. This helps turn fear and anger into feeling save and loved, engaged and loving. We don't give up and continue to support most of the individuals referred to us. We are seen as very successful and are referred men and women from across the province. Along with caring homes we provide the opportunity to work as part of our crews and to begin to give back to the community. The training and success turns lives around.
Our latest project is Wood-knot our center for new and used lumber and related materials. We also connect with the community through numerous Community Gardens and outdoor events like Seed Exchanges and ecology projects.
