Founded in 1979, Hornby Denman Health is a multi-service non-profit organization and charity dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of Denman and Hornby Island residents. We provide valuable community based programs and services including home care and home assist, seniors day programs, volunteer transportation services, child, youth & family counselling and support, adult mental health & substance use supports, and an extensive medical equipment loan program. The vision of the Society is 'Healthy Islanders' and the mission is 'To optimize the health and health services for residents of Hornby and Denman Islands'. Values of the Society include operating in a way that is integrated, community-based, compassionate, prevention-based and inclusive. The members of the volunteer Board of Directors have a synergistic blend of local experience, governance and leadership expertise, and the Society employs over 25 dedicated and caring staff and contractors. Hornby Denman Health owns the Community Medical Clinic and offices on Hornby Island and keeps offices at the Health Centre on Denman Island. We host monthly Hornby Denman Health Network meetings which bring together local health, social and community organizations to promote coordinated service delivery, planning and advocacy.
