Rescue and adoption of pit bull type dogs, public education, and community outreach to low-income pet owners.
HugABull has been rescuing bull breed dogs for over 10 years. We partner with local shelters to take homeless dogs into our program, where they are placed in foster care and ultimately matched with loving, responsible homes. Since 2003, we have matched over 1000 "breed ambassadors" with their forever homes.
Working with individual dogs and families is our passion, but we also believe that work must be done on several fronts to attain our vision of happier, safer, and more humane communities.
We cultivate a community of committed dog owners and provide public education around responsible ownership for all dog breeds.
We raise awareness about owner-centred, breed-neutral legislation based on behaviour science - the only model of animal control that has proven to be successful.
Our outreach program, launched this year, takes us to low-income communities where we provide supplies, training advice, and free spay/neuter services to pets and owners who need help.
We believe that by working together towards a higher standard of ownership, our communities will be safer, happier, and healthier for humans and pets alike.
