Our Mission
Women's Multicultural Resource and Counselling Centre of Durham (WMRCC) is a registered charitable and community based organization, founded in 1993 to provide trauma informed care counselling, services and programs to women of all ages, youth, children, gender diverse, women with disabilities, newcomers, and immigrants from diverse backgrounds with lived experiences of intimate partner violence, and abuse. WMRCC is also a Centre for Worker Cooperative Development Program, promoting economic advancement for newcomers and immigrant women. WMRCC uses the intersectionality of Gender-Based Violence Plus (GBV+) Analysis. That is how gender intersects with race, sexuality, disability, age, class, income, religion, and other identities to create barriers and layers of oppression for vulnerable and under-served communities.

WMRCC provides One on One Counselling, Group Counselling, Self Enhancement Workshops, Mentorship Program, Psychotherapy, Youth Clinical Counselling for at Risk Black Youth, Clinical Counselling for Children with Lived Experiences of Violence and Abuse, Youth In Transition Worker Program, Youth Outreach Worker Program, Together We Can Youth Mentorship Program, Senior Social Inclusion Program, Worker Cooperative Development Program, "Her Power" Project: Creating Leadership Opportunity for Women with Disabilities, Age Well at Home Seniors in Home Support Services (AWAH), Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Program, Gender Equality Justice, WRAP Around Program, English Language Education for Newcomers and Immigrant Seniors, Public Education Awareness Campaign, and Partnership Building and Networking.
