To empower individuals with Down syndrome to reach their full potential throughout life by pioneering and providing educational programs and services, grounded in foundational research. Working with researchers, professionals and families, we are a bridge between research and practice.
About DOWN SYNDROME RESEARCH FOUNDATION
The Down Syndrome Research Foundation improves the lives of individuals with Down syndrome through intervention research, specialized learning programs and the dissemination of information to families and educators. Our programs are continually evolving as we gain new understanding through our ongoing research and our work with our students.
DSRF directly serves families through our one to one programs (ground-breaking reading and communication programs, speech and language therapy, and occupational therapy), and through group programs which include music in motion and summer school. We also support transition into adulthood through various small group programs which prepare our students to live full and fulfilling lives. Additionally, we are a vital resource to the worldwide Down syndrome community, and a recognized leader in the development of best practice for students with Down syndrome. The effectiveness and importance of our work was affirmed by the Burnaby Board of Trade when they named DSRF the BBOT Non-Profit Organization of the Year for 2014.
What People Are Saying
"I appreciate everything about DSRF. They've been a lifesaver for our family. We're just so grateful that we have somewhere like DSRF that we can turn to. We plan to continue our involvement there for many years to come."
