The Saskatchewan Down Syndrome Society’s mission is to enhance the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families through advocacy, awareness and education to assist them in fully participating in their community.
About SASKATCHEWAN DOWN SYNDROME SOCIETY INC.
The Saskatchewan Down Syndrome Society was formed in 2002 by a number of parents of children with Down syndrome who saw a need to better communicate some of the issues surrounding Down syndrome, as well as establish a network within the province to provide support for new parents and their families. A group of volunteers within the society banded together to create functions for families to participate in, a board of directors to navigate the direction of the society and committees to focus our activities towards.
The SDSS grew quickly and incorporated as a non-profit organization in early 2004. Since that time, the SDSS has held events across the province and has been involved in providing support to many new parents within the province. We have created partnerships within our communities to raise funds for various activities, including the development of this website.
