IDF Widows and Orphans Canada (IDFWO Canada) is a registered Canadian charity, incorporated in 2013, established to provide grief support for youth in Israel who have lost a parent, through mentoring, counselling, religious activities, and structured programs.
IDFWO Canada works in partnership with the IDF Widows & Orphans Organization (IDFWO) in Israel, an independent Israeli nonprofit (amuta) founded in 1991 and officially recognized by the State of Israel, which supports the families of Israel’s fallen soldiers, police officers, and security services personnel.
IDFWO Canada exclusively supports the Otzmama Program, a therapeutic healing initiative for orphaned children from birth to age six. Due to the children’s young age, participation requires the presence of a widowed parent or legal guardian. The program provides professionally guided retreats focused on early childhood enrichment, trauma-informed care, and age-appropriate psychosocial support, enabling young children to begin processing loss at a critical developmental stage.
