Our Mission
The ILRC exists to create and sustain opportunities for people with disabilities, to overcome barriers and to be part of an inclusive community through an independent lifestyle. We pursue this mission through core services, innovative projects, community participation and community partnerships which serve people with and without disabilities.By creating access to community integration, ILRC-Sudbury/Manitoulin supports the continued independence of people with disabilities and works to enhance the cultural and communal vitality of our shared community.

The Independent Living Resource Centre (ILRC), which services Sudbury and Manitoulin is a community-based, non-profit organization that is controlled by and for persons with disabilities. It is associated with 24 other Centre's across Canada through the Canadian Association of Independent Living Resource Centre's (CAILC).
The principles of the ILRC are as follows: consumer control, cross-disability focus, community-based, and to promote integration and participation through the Centre's programs. The core programs are: Information and Referral, Peer Support, Research and Skills Development, Independent Living, and Empowerment.
