.... Does life ever change? The daily struggles our community faces are immense.  Whether it’s the loss of a job, food insecurity, addiction or a lack of affordable housing, these all have an impact on the health and well-being of a community. There is a community within the inner city of Hamilton deemed the 3rd most impoverished area in all of Ontario where the average life span is equivalent to a third world country. It is within this community that we see our fellow community members struggle more than most.

35 years ago, Don and Carole MacVicar saw the need within this community and started an outreach ministry to bring much needed services to this underserved community in the north end.  They set up programs serving youth starting with a basketball league, craft nights and summer camping.

......With your help, life does change.... for the better!

Today they run a full ministry where, over the past 35 years, funds donated by the community have been utilized to send over 2,500 children to summer camp, and 1,000 teens to a winter retreat. The Ministry also started a Mom’s Group which provides a weekly meal to the moms and their children, allowing them the opportunity to escape the pressures of their home life. 

These are only some of the programs the Ministry operates each year!

As the Ministry celebrates 35 years in the community, we want to ensure we can continue to provide these programs and services to this community. We’ve seen firsthand the positive change and impact these services have had on the individuals here. But we can’t do it without your help. We rely SOLEY on the generosity of our community members to run these programs each year.
