A 15 year war in Congo killed more than 5 million people and left an estimated 2 million orphans. Yet it did not make headline news.
International Widows & Orphans Fund (iWOF) was formed to change the lives of these vulnerable children - as many as we can, in one of the world’s most dangerous places to live.
Our Vision is to partner with orphanages in eastern Congo where we recognize their local knowledge to minister to the children. We provide resources, accountability and vision. We see it as a true partnership.
In addition, we want to use the infrastructure created at the orphanages to impact the surrounding community, more specifically widows and single moms. Our new Reading Centre at Grace Orphanage is the start of the vision to teach women not only to read, but also to teach basic business skills. We will then help them start their own businesses with a micro loan, the first step towards self-sufficiency.
