about

Our Mission

ITK’s main activities involve representing Inuit on the National stage and ensuring the early engagement of Inuit with Governments in development of policy and programs.

The scope of ITK’s work has grown to include:

• Closing the gap in health outcomes between Inuit and other Canadians, addressing the essential social determinants of health and to protect and promote Inuit culture, language and values (Department of Health and Social Development),

• Protecting the environment and renewable resources so that future generations of Inuit can fully enjoy their relationship with the land, sea and ice (Department of Environment and Wildlife),

• Advancing Inuit knowledge and ensuring an active role for Inuit in scientific research (Inuit Qaujisarvingat: The Inuit Knowledge Centre),

• And promoting Inuit achievements and accomplishments to audiences on Parliament Hill, across Canada and around the world (Department of Communications).
