To inspire Inuktitut lifelong creativity, and learning as a community by sharing Inuit traditions, knowledge and language through the arts.
Isaruit inuit Arts is a group of Inuit artists and creators and arts workers who operate out of Isaruit inuit Arts' shop, located at the Rideau Hub, at 815 St. Laurent Blvd, Ottawa-Vanier, in the National Capital Region. Isaruit is directed by an Inuit Board of Directors, and employs Inuit living in Ottawa to work on and teach traditional Inuit skills and culture focussed on the visual arts. The items produced through Isaruit's Shop include traditional Inuit knives, ulus, qulliqs(seal oil lamps), toys and other tools, as well as sewn articles, such as kamiks (boots), parkas, amautiks (baby carriers) and many other traditional handcrafts. Isaruit also has a seal products area where both Inuit and non-Inuit can learn to prepare sealskins. Many Inuit and non-Inuit take advantage of Weekly Drop Ins where Inuit country food is served, and recent Inuit artists' creations are show-cased. Isaruit also provides Inuit cultural awareness sessions to many organizations. An Inuit artists' handbook has recently been published, with a focus on Inuit artists supporting Inuit artists. Isaruit is becoming known as an organization that DOES Reconciliation.
