The escalation of violence in idlib has intensified ten-fold. In just a few days, more than 900,000 people were forced to flee their homes and face the bitter icy- cold with little to no shelter.
Hospitals have been destroyed while food, water and basic supplies have become increasingly difficult to access. The people of Syria have been left vulnerable to unimaginably alarming circumstances that have already taken the lives of countless souls.
Unfortunately this is not the first time that this has happened.
Of the 3 million people already in Idlib, at least half were already displaced from other areas of Syria. Now with more people arriving, supplies are stretched and there are simply not enough resources to help everyone.
Camps are full and children are freezing to death as 200,000+ people have been left sleeping in open fields exposed to frigid temperatures of -7◦C.
We are on the ground now actively helping these families, but we need your immediate support to provide:
- Emergency shelter: There are simply not enough tents for everyone in sub-zero temperatures
○ Food: We’re the World Food Programme’s main partner distributing fresh bread and ready-made meals
○ Medical care: Our mobile emergency unit is providing daily critical care where many hospitals have been suspended following attacks
