Island Nature Trust, founded in 1979, protects PEI’s natural areas through land stewardship, species protection, and community connection.
Island Nature Trust was established in 1979 as a registered charity to protect and conserve natural areas in Prince Edward Island. We envision a network of protected natural areas across PEI that are sustained by the love and generosity of Islanders for future generations of humans and wildlife. In addition to acquiring and protecting land with representative natural ecosystems, the Trust stewards the properties to retain and restore their ecological values, assists private landowners to manage and protect their own properties, monitors and safeguards species at risk, and delivers numerous immersive outreach opportunities to connect Islanders of all ages to local natural ecosystems.
Your generosity makes conservation possible.
Because of supporters like you, Island Nature Trust currently PROTECTS over 13,000 acres of forests, coastal ecosystems, and freshwater wetlands in perpetuity under the PEI Natural Areas Protection Act and the Wildlife Conservation Act.
Because of the generosity of supporters like you, species at risk and of concern such as the piping plover, bank swallow, bobolink, Canada warbler, eastern wood-pewee, and black ash are being monitored, safeguarded, and supported.
TOGETHER we can grow a conservation legacy across our Island to support biodiversity and create a lasting network of wild spaces for nature and people to thrive.
