JMJ Children’s Fund 50th Anniversary Celebration

JMJ is celebrating 50 years of helping children help themselves. Every cent donated goes towards the feeding, education and health of children in need.

J.M.J. Children’s Fund of Canada (JMJ) was founded in 1972 to provide relief to children in need.  JMJ is a charitable, non-profit and non-sectarian organization, founded and established in Canada.  It was incorporated in 1974 and is registered with Revenue Canada for income tax purposes.

There are no paid staff - all workers are volunteers who give their time to help feed and educate children in need in developing countries.  In order to meet requirements a school must be already in existence and functioning.  The Board meets regularly to consider requests for assistance, and to respond to problems as they arise.  Emergency meetings are called as required.

JMJ attempts to respond to all requests for assistance but because of a shrinking economic base this is not always possible.  Funds are sometimes in short supply, although it is recognized that the Almighty has kept us afloat over these past 50 years in order to feed and educate His hungry children.

JMJ assesses each appeal based on its merits, and on whether the organization making the request is equipped to assist children and to carry out its mandate.  Then we ensure that the funds are used as intended.
