The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in new and shifting challenges as staff work diligently to provide essential services to at-risk and homeless youth in the Durham Region. This current crisis has resulted in the following changes and each of these changes has increased the cost to operate our emergency shelter.
- Personal protective equipment for youth and staff
- Increased need and cost for cleaning supplies
- Increased costs for basic hygiene items
- Increased costs of food items
Our staff is working with each youth to ensure they have access to the necessities they require to keep safe and healthy during COVID-19.
These safety measures have resulted in increased costs.
