The Joggins Fossil Institute (JFI) is a not-for-profit, charitable organization. The Institute administers the beach at Joggins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site for the Carboniferous time period, over 300 million years ago (before the dinosaurs!).
Our mission is to protect, conserve, and present the outstanding value of the Joggins Fossil Cliffs through research, education, and tourism.
What People Are Saying
"This UNESCO site [was] amazing...the truly fascinating thing is when you go down to the beach and learn from the knowledgeable guide... Any of the [fossils] can be in a museum display case somewhere else in the world, but are right at your finger tips."
